What are the new visa run regulations for Laos starting August 2024 for ‘O’ visa holders?

Recently someone mentioned from August 2024 when you do a visa run to Laos you must stay 2 nights and are not allowed to come back same day even on a “O” visa.

Anyone here with recent experience?

Thank you in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
As of August 2024, new regulations will require ‘O’ visa holders to stay a minimum of 2 nights when making a visa run to Laos. Currently, this applies specifically to the Chiang Saen and Chiang Khong borders.

Any idea why this is?

And does it include 90 day “O” visa ?

the Thai immigration officers said it's orders from their superiors. I don't know if it only effects visa exempt or every visa type

Can I ask what do British Passport holders get on a land border crossing is it 15 / 30 / 60 days?

This is for a friend who will be travelling with me
