Many users shared positive experiences about applying for a Non-O Visa from Canada, particularly through the Thai embassy in Ottawa, noting the process was quick and help was readily available for any questions. It's emphasized that applying from outside Thailand is simpler, especially when there are bank account requirements for extensions within Thailand. Several comments indicate that having a Thai bank account with the requisite funds is crucial for the one-year extension.

Yes, through Ottawa. Easy and relatively quick turnaround.
I have online. Any questions I had was very easy to call the Thai embassy in Ottawa. They were usually pretty quick to answer and very helpful. They seemed to be happy to answer any questions I had.
Arthitaya Khu for the application to the initial visa. this is okay. But for the application inside Thailand for the 1-year extension of stay, a U.S. citizen needs a deposit of a minimum of 800,000 THB in his Thai bank account, and on the day he applies for the extension, that money must have been sitting in his Thai bank account for a minimum of 2 months. Only a Thai bank account will be accepted by Immigration. His account in the USA and his pension letters from the USA will NOT be acknowledged by Thai Immigration
Graham Seal Apply outside Thailand much easier. You can use your bank account in your home country to apply. My partner submitted the pension letter from US and US bank account.
Greg Alexander I’ve done applying Non-O for my partner in Malaysia. He submitted both U.S. bank account and Thai bank account. For the 1year extension, it is required only Thai bank account.
Arthitaya Khu you can only apply for the Non-O Visa inside Thailand if you already have a Thai bank account and funds sitting in it. On a tourist visa or visa-exempt entry, you cannot get a Thai bank account opened any more
