Aus passport in Chalong, Phuket. 30 day exemption extension expires 31st Mar. Was thinking of driving ourselves to Ranong for border bounce to Myanmar (but now believe e-visa is required?). Unsure though if medical cert is needed to get back into Thailand. Also heard today that Phuket Town Immigration are doing extensions based on the virus. Anyone know if this is correct?

Summary so far

An Australian passport holder in Chalong, Phuket is seeking information on visa extension options as their 30-day exemption is nearing expiration. They are considering a border run to Myanmar but are unsure about the e-visa requirements and medical certification needed to return to Thailand. There are conflicting reports about Phuket Town Immigration providing extensions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with some comments indicating that a consulate letter may be required for certain nationalities.

I’ve PM’d you so we can connect. We’re in literally exactly the same situation as you; Aussies, Visa exemption already extended and expiring 31 March.

YES! But, you need a letter from your consulate. I believe those consulates that issue the letter are Italy, Korea, and China. If you aren't from one of those countries, you probably aren't getting that extension of stay.

There is no Covid19 Extension of Stay. sorry

Airports are open, tourist can fly home, Embassy does not support emergency letters for that reason.

Do not wait until the last moment, think twice before you apply for short term Extension of your holiday
