Is anyone else have a tough time getting this visa out of Singapore? I am being asked for proof of income far in excess of the publicly stated requirements, among other hoops to jump through. I am a foreigner in Singapore on an employment pass. Any advice welcome.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many users discuss the difficulties faced while applying for the DTV visa from the Thai embassy in Singapore. One commenter shares their experience of being asked for proof of income that exceeded publicized requirements, while others share their own challenges with document requests and recommend considering other countries for the application process. Overall, the conversation highlights the complexities and frustrations of obtaining the visa from Singapore.
A year ago I applied for the dtv soft power (cooking) whilst living in Singapore on a DP. They were so difficult and kept asking for documents - 6 mo bank statements, payslips, employment letter and a letter of consent from my employer to attend the cooking classes. I eventually gave up and went to apply in vietnam instead. Same documents, approved in a week.
I got my DTV from Singapore Thai Embassy in Feb 2025. No problem.
I presented my income tax return, employment letter, bank statements showing "Salary" from your company, and balance of not less than SGD 20K.
Initially I show my Thai bank statement. But they requested me to show bank statements that show salary income. If your salary is drawn in Singapore, your bank statement should have shown that.
got my visa in taipei with soft powers (muay thai). Got asked the same documents as workaction, work contract, documents from my company, taxes, pay slips going on my bank account for over 3 months and after that I even got interviewed. Taiwan, Kuala Lampur and Tokyo are probably the worst places to apply at, singapore is trying its best to get in the same leaugue tho
Anonymous participant that's not income that's the amount you must show in your bank account as part of the qualification process. 20k SGD is about 500k baht so is spot on the limit which is why I guess they suggest more. The 6 months is an embassy specific thing & varies by which embassy you use, some want 6 months, some 3 months and some want either but only look at the final closing balance. Singapore embassy actually states the balance must be 20k SGD for 3 months so if you show 6 months statements and the last 3 are over that amount you should be OK
unfortunately not - my husband has been pending for 8 months now despite having met all stated criteria including bank balance and statement wise. Each month that goes by we are having to update documentation to prove consecutive rolling 6 months.
Anonymous participant there's something odd going on but you don't provide enough information to say what. Doesn't sound like its anything to do with the money. Try calling them or even using Facebook messenger
