Hey everyone 😊 I want to ask if there is an exchange booth at Suvarnabhumi airport before immigration control. I have to pay fee for my cat and only thing I know that it’s has to be paid in cash . On website they don’t specify if baht or it can be paid in euros/dollars . AQS station should be next to carousel no.8 but I have no idea how it looks like on the airport 😂 . Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the availability of an exchange booth at Suvarnabhumi Airport before immigration control, specifically for paying a fee for importing a cat. Various community members confirmed that there is indeed an exchange booth on the way to immigration. However, they noted that the rates are likely poor and suggested using ATMs located after immigration instead. Some users recommended exchanging a small amount before traveling to Thailand, while others pointed out that fees at customs must be paid in Thai Baht. Detailed directions were provided on where to find the Animal Quarantine Service and necessary paperwork after picking up the cat.

There are a few booths for Foreign exchange along the way to the Immigration Zones 1 and 2. Zone one is for people with Visa and Zone 2 is for people who are trying to apply for Visa-On-Arrival (VOA). VOA is only for eligible countries only, not for all countries (do research and see which countries are eligible for VOA).

Yes they have places to convert cash as well as an atm that will give you baht by the animal import office

If you actually need to pay a fee for your 🐈 cat, you will pay it in Baht at the customs red Goods to Declare area, not at immigration. There are ATMs in the Arrival Hall, immediately after immigration. You pick up your cat at the oversize baggage station near carousel 8 and take it and the paperwork to the Animal Quarantine Office. They examine and approve the documents. Then you go to the Red Channel at Customs and show the documents and declare your 🐈 cat. The Customs Officer when I brought my cat here charged me 1000 Baht (no receipt).

Look here is the correct answer , you find out how much it is then change the money in your own country at one if the thousands of exchange places that offer good rates then when you are in the country you go to SUPERRICH . Clear ?

@Harry ********
thank you guys 😊 I don’t care about exchange rates . I need to pay maybe 1000 baht fee and that’s it . After that I will exchange money in city or use my Revolut / Wise card . But now I don’t have another option. I can’t get Baht in my country. It’s almost impossible.
Harry *********
@Stanley *****
so you change at the airport , for that amount you lose cents . Good luck and enjoy Thailand

@Harry ********
because he wants his CAT scan
Harry *********
@Bob *********
why get bad rates I mean
Bob **********
@Harry ********
He said he believes he has to pay in baht so he doesn’t have a choice, just change enough
Michael ********
@Bob *********
he hasnt read question

properly or doesnt undrrstand
Harry *********
@Michael *******
cat or CAT scan the answer is the same
Bob **********
Harry *********
@Bob *********
ok then why not find out how much this scan is and take enough to pay for it ? Not difficult . This is a nonsense question , common sense should prevail . Nobody in their right mind changes currency at any airport

Harry, he has only two choices: Echange USD to THB before he passes Thai Customs at the Bangkok Airport, or exchange USD to THB on a bank in his home country - where he will get an even worse rate than at the exchange booth before Thai Immigration. He has to pay Thai Baht to Customs BEFORE he is allowed to pass through
Bob **********
Google a map of BKK it should show ATMs

@Bob *********
It doesn't

Surely you would have a wad of Thai baht if you are coming into the country anyway from your own country . Why are you arriving with no Thai money ? Seems strange to say the least
Stevie ********
Get whatever you need for the cat plus 2000bht in your own country that'll give you enough to get to your resort by bus, taxi or train then change the rest in resort . Not really a major conundrum is it. But there are booths before passport control as many have said, but I prefer getting there asap and minimizing the queueing time so don't waste time at those booths
Nongnuch ********
@Harry ********
You don't understand? It is a bad idea to exchange USD to THB in his home country before he flies to Bangkok. Because the exchange rate will be even worse than the bad rate offered by the booth before Immigration. So he needs to have some THB because he has to pay Customs for his cat import (don't ask me why and how much) before they allow him to pass through and enter Thailand
Harry *********
@Nongnuch *******
are you telling me that the exchange bureaux in the USA are even worse than the Thai airport rates . That sounds most unlikely to me . Some might be but most would not be and anyway , this is not earth shattering amounts of money . How much is he going to lose or gain either way $5?$10? Does it even matter ?
Nongnuch ********
@Harry ********
exactly, it probably doesn't matter. What matters is how much action it needs to visit an exchange place in the USA. And probably visit this place two times, because they won't have any Thai Baht in stock, and need to order 🤣😄 At the Bangkok Airport, the exchange booth is right on the way to Immigration. So he won't need to fuss around in his home country. And YES, the rates in the USA are not as good as the rates inside the Arrival terminal of the BKK airport. Maybe the same, but not any better!
Andreas *********
@Harry ********
I've never changed money before in my life, at least since ATMs and credit cards were introduced.What's supposed to be strange about that?
Harry *********
@Andreas ********
and your point is ?
Michael ********
@Harry ********
have you seen difference in rate from changing in Europe to changing in Thailand can lose about 20 %
Harry *********
@Michael *******
you have taken the extremes to make your point . Actually if you go to a good bureaux de change in England you will find the difference is about 2% so my point about buying just a bit surely before you come to Thailand . Just 4000 baht or something just to start you off . What will you lose ? About 100 baht .. is that a big deal ? Then you don’t have to worry about finding a bureau at the airport which will offer you even worse rates than you get in Europe and the UK . Then when you are on the street you go to SUPERRICH to change the bulk of your money . You’re making a thing out of a problem that doesn’t exist
Michael ********
@Harry ********
Talking about UK airports rates google them. How much money does the guy require to pay for his cat.

And talking of wasting answers all he asked was is there an exchange before immigration. Which there is thats the only real answer. Not why arent you bringing a wad of baht with you
Harry *********
@Michael *******
if somebody asked you how to jump off a cliff would you tell them or would you say don’t do it like I am . Just because they ask a stupid question that needs correcting doesn’t mean you have to encourage them does it
Chris *********************
@Harry ********
how did the question need correcting and why is it stupid. I'm back and forth and never change money in the uk it's a rip off,
Henrik *****
Just exchange in your own country.
Nongnuch ********
@Henrik ****
and
@Harry ********
in his country he will get the same BAD rate than the rate offered at the booth before and right after Thai Immigration (before passing Customs). So, you don't win anything if you exchange in your home country. On the contrary, you can save yourself the trip to an exchange place in your home country 🤣😂
Henrik *****
There are so many things going on, when arriving at a unfamiliar airport, that’s why it is best to exchange enough money in you home country, calm and relaxed.

And since most buy tickets long before they travel, you can exchange on a day with good rates, to have enough money for transport, food and things like this, so you don’t need to worry about exchange until after settled in at the hotel
Greg ***********
Stanley Čech . . yes, there is an exchange booth on the way from the gate to the Immigration counters. It is at the side of the concourse, near where some King Power shops offer whisky and chocolate. You will get a very bad exchange rate, though. But if you need Thai Baht before you enter Thailand, this would be the only way, except from exchanging THB in your departing airport. You will get a much better rate from "Superrich Money Exchange" in the Floor "B" (basement) of the airport, right at the platform of the "Airport Rail Link", however for this you must have already passed immigration and customs
John ******
I vaguely remember there was a boot at the way to immigration just before you turn left or right where you have qué for immigration
