TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking recommendations for Thai language schools in the Sukhumvit area that offer visas for students. Various comments suggest schools like ProLanguage and Duke Language School, along with advice to visit the schools, review their materials, and possibly attend a trial class. There are discussions about class durations, costs, and the absence of strict pass/fail testing in these schools, with some mentioning that immigration may check language proficiency during visa renewals.

Do all schools test pass or fail?.. I'm looking for a school that can teach me for a year but no pass or fail tests

, in Bangkok they stopped sending students to the Ministry of Education for testing now. They just go to the immigration office with your attendance sheets and the lesson plan of what you've studied so far.

Although most students enrolled in private schools in Bangkok get only 60 day extensions instead of 90 day ones now.

If you spend a year learning Thai and can't have a simple conversation then yes, they may give you problems or require evidence of attendance at school.

There is no "fail" in Thailand.

That said, sometimes immigration will "test" your Thai at visa renewal time.

, pick a few schools go to them look at their material, sit a sample class, talk to the currently enrolled students and THEN decide what school is for you

The two best schools I've found (after touring 20 of them) are

DLS (Duke Language School, 3rd floor Trendy Building Sukhumvit Soi 13)

AND

RTL (Rak Thai Language, 10th floor Mahatun Plaza, Ploenchit BTS station)

to be honest if I was in BKK I would of chosen that school! I’m studying in Pattaya so not viable at the moment. however my last stint at learning Thai was at a school in the same building as Duke I believe at Piammtr language school.

... I took classes 5 days per week... each class is one month long... 7 classes in all... excellent textbooks and very practical lessons... classes are spoken mostly in Thai... a lesson is taught, then students practice lesson dialogue with each other... homework and review for next chapter assignment each night... very intense, yet very fun... you WILL learn Thai! I’ve studied at different schools... my opinion, this is the best... 🌴😎👍🏼
