Hi everyone, can anyone recommend a cooking course option for DTV visa in Phuket, preferably, or else in Bangkok that is not too expensive? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is looking for affordable cooking course options in Phuket or Bangkok to apply for a DTV visa but is advised to be cautious as consulate staff may be tightening scrutiny on short cooking classes used for visa applications.
6 month courses are valid and regularly accepted for DTV. It's the minimum requirement.
There's no 5 year course for muay Thai or cooking for example... And nobody will pay upfront for 5 years of classes. Unless it's university but this visa isn't designed for university

Anonymous participant yeah, dtv for soft power like that makes no sense... maybe they are changing the rules
it makes perfect sense. IMO, Thailand wants to keep long term nomads etc and make it easier to stay rather than lose them to other countries as numbers are dropping off. It has less to do with courses and more with long term spending potential

Anonymous participant i think they will start to ask proof of courses when re-entering Thailand.. time will show. They should, after all thats the reason they applied for
you're totally missing the pointπ it's not about the courses, for either side. It's a mid range long term visa designed to retain mid range spenders. The courses are thrown in as an option to be eligible IMO and to also boost Thai soft powers
They don't want long term freelancers and nomads to go to Vietnam or Bali for example due to Thai immigration being too complicated. Many already left due to visa complications and expenses.
That's why I think it's come out. Just my opinion but it makes sense.

Iβd be very cautious of applying for the DTV visa through short cooking classes. Seems like consulate staff might cracking down on them.

Anonymous participant 6month visa is enough for that too
Anonymous participant π I'm obviously wanting the 5 year visa or else I wouldn't be posting about it in the DTV visa group right?π

Anonymous participant im just saying, immigration granting 6month visa for 6month course makes sense. Yes, people have got dtv with it in the past, a lot of people.
