TLDR : Answer Summary
Many community members shared their opinions about whether to cover bank account numbers when submitting proof of savings for Thai visa applications. Consensus indicates that obscuring account numbers may raise suspicion, potentially leading to visa application denial. Although concerns about privacy exist, several participants argue that account numbers are not particularly sensitive in the context of visa applications. Instead, it's advisable to show complete statements, highlighting the balance and applicant's name.

You have to give them your whole passport page with ALL your data that can be used for identity theft, you have an issue with bank account number?

No. Why? If they want to use it and transfer me money, then that's fine.

Why lol? No one can do anything with the account number. You literally give it away every time someone has to pay you. Big businesses keep them public to get paid

Leave all the information on your statement. It’s useless to anyone apart from the Royal Thai Embassy. Start blanking items out, just leads to suspicion and possible visa application rejection.

I agree, account number is at the bottom of every written check...useless to anyone except if they wanted to deposit money into your account to help you

Your account number is written on every cheque you give out. Do you trust those recipients more than you trust the Thai embassy? 😂 No...don't blank it out you'll be rejected for insufficient proof of they can't see the account details.

I sent only first and last pages of each statement, summaries with no transactions.

Are you scared someone might deposit money ?

What's the reason for that? What can one do knowing your account number? Or just being paranoid in order to be paranoid? ))))

I most certainly did. I pretty much covered everything except my name, the date, and the balance. None of their business to know details like account number or individual transactions.

just the answer I was looking for. I was wondering if I was able to do that. I don’t think they need to see what my transactions are.

Thanks.

It worked for me (with the Berlin Thai Embassy at the time). No guarantee it will work with other / all embassies. They are notorious for all having different requirements for the same things.

true enough. And the worst part is they won’t even say yes or no. They’d rather just deny me and keep the fee. I can’t see it being an issue. All they need to see is my name and the balance.
