So I cancelled my extension based on education and moved to the covid extension, just closed the loop today at CW. Is it worth going back to Immigration straight away within the next week to apply for another covid extension or wait and see what next month brings?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user recently switched from an education-based visa extension to a COVID-19 extension and inquires whether to apply for another COVID extension at Immigration soon or wait for new developments next month. A comment highlights the uncertainty surrounding the expiration of the current COVID extension order on January 29th and suggests consulting the immigration office for more definitive guidance.

No one can answer that question for you. What we do know is that the order allowing covid extensions expires on the 29th of Jan. We don't know if they're going to extend that order or not.

You have to make your own decisions. Go talk to the immigration office, they'd have more answers than the group would.
