I like to stay 4 month per year in Thailand. What should I do? METV or extensions with 1 border run.
Answer summary
For a 4-month stay in Thailand, the general consensus among the community suggests that applying for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) is the best option. Many users recommend the METV due to its flexibility and reduced scrutiny at immigration, especially with recent changes in visa policies and crackdowns on border runs. While some suggest the traditional extensions with border runs might have worked in the past, they now face increased restrictions and complications. The METV allows for up to 8.5 months of stay and is particularly suited for individuals who travel back and forth.

Definitely get a METV, with the upcoming reduction of visa exemption time and the recent crackdown on border runs that option is really no longer a viable option. Too many rules and restrictions with the DTV. The METV is your best option unless you qualify for a Non-O visa which I'm guessing you don't.
This is 100% correct. I just did a video discussing visa free, vs SETV and METV - Menno Ytsma you far better off with the METV, as Thai immigration is being very "aware" of those seeking extending stays via border runs. With your 4 month stay, it isn't so much an issue, as the trigger is about 150-180 days for increased scrutiny. Enjoy your visit. Also, be sure to get the metv using the e-visa website.
