My wife and I are both over 60 years old and I’m retired under my pension. What is the best visa to have other than the DTV visa and what are the requirements?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The best visa options for retirees in Thailand, aside from the DTV visa, are primarily the Retirement (NON-O) visa and possibly the Wealthy Pensioner visa for those with adequate funds. The Retirement visa requires proof of 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account or a monthly income of 65,000 THB. The DTV visa has its advantages but is generally not recommended for long-term stays. Expats should consider their personal circumstances and preferences when choosing a visa.

Retirement visa is a much better option and the 800k requirement is settled for a fee if done via an agency😃

Your choice is Dtv or retirement.

Retirement requires ฿800k in a Thai bank earning no interest every year but is not likely ever to be cancelled.

Dtv currently requires to just show 500k in a home bank (where it can earn interest) upon application and currently never again. You can work legally online.

There is a possibility that the program will be scrapped or requirements greatly increased after the election and you need to border bounce every 6 months.

Yearly Retirement O visa in country. Qualification is 800k in Thai bank or 65k a month income is the most popular. If you are wealthy the Wealthy Pensioner LTR is another option. That is for 10 years

The best visa is the one that suits your wishes.

Do you want to keep on working, even on-line

Do you want to live in Thailand

Do you want to travel regular to Thailand

Do you have problems to make deposits into a Thai bank account

Does your Embassy provide an Affidavit of Income.

What is the Nationality from both of you?

You both can apply for retirement visa. This is the best option. DTV is not at all a good option as per my opinion. If you would like to discuss, please send me a message via messenger.

Review the Thai embassy website of your country. They will list the available visas and what the qualifications are for that embassy. Most likely you're looking for a non-O visa based on retirement.
