Is the DTV effective immediately upon approval, and can I enter Thailand before the chosen arrival date?
Once the DTV is approved, is it effective immediately? I'm wondering if I will be able to go to Thailand before the "arrival date" I picked in the application.
Answer summary
Once approved, the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) is effective immediately, allowing you to enter Thailand anytime. However, if you apply well in advance, your application may be held until closer to your specified travel date. If you enter Thailand before your DTV is officially stamped, you may need to exit and re-enter to activate it.

The 5 year countdown starts the day the DTV is approved. You can enter anytime you like.

Immediately. But if you apply too far in advance they may backlog your application until closer to the travel date you provided in the application.
