What are the rules and process for the 90-day reporting in Thailand regarding documentation and exemptions?

Hello - is there anywhere we can find out more information about the 90 day reporting? Must this be done in person at a Thai immigration office or can it be done online?

Also, would you be required to present all the original documentation again as is required at the 180 day extension.

If you leave and re-enter Thailand before the 90 days arrives does this exempt you from having to do the 90 day report?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, the 90-day report must be completed in person at an immigration office for the first report. If you leave the country before the 90 days are up, you do not need to file the report, and the count will reset upon your return. For extensions, original documentation is required, similar to the 180-day extension process. It is noted that many expats question the necessity of the reporting as hotels keep records of guests.

What's the point doing self reporting if each hotel keeps all the records where we're staying at. I left after 90 days and I wasn't asked a thing at the airport.

They won't ask you about 90 day reporting at airports or land border crossings, but they will put a 90 day reporting slip reminder into your passport.

It doesn't matter to immigration at the border whether you've done it or not, as they don't handle these matters.

A different story in China - or Beijing at least. Anyone who doesn't register their accommodation with the authorities (similar to the TM30) may get denied entry on their next re-entry and is ineligible for the 7 day visa waiver for transit passengers traveling via China, en-route to 3rd countries.

Search the group, this has been discussed numerous times.

The first 90-day report is done in person at immigration. If you leave before the 90 days are up, you don't need to do it, and the count will reset when you return. Yes, extensions in Thailand require complete documentation.
