Hi everyone !

I am planning to go to Laos at Savannakhet to do my "Non O marriage" visa, is it easier to go with an agency or can I do it by myself?

How long does it take to get the passport back?

Thanks ! :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus in the community suggests that obtaining a Non O marriage visa in Savannakhet, Laos, is relatively straightforward to do on your own rather than through an agency. Many participants reported that their passports were returned the next working day after submission, and advised arriving early to avoid long queues at the embassy, especially on busy days.

Is it possible to do the yearly extension with this non o marriage visa in Thailand?

@Ralph ************
Yes, a yearly extention of stay is possible with this visa.

but then it would require the 400k baht in the bank, correct?

Ralph De La Paz Yes, seasoned for 2 months.

I believe its not worth the effort just get a new one. That's what I've been doing for 10+ years.

Get there early, queues can be long. Be there by 7.30am and be out by 8.30. Get there 8.30 and be prepared to stand all morning in a queue of 150+

same here but if you read my story it says get there early and it's quick. Get there late and the queue is long.

I was back in my car 30 minutes after the gate opened and I dropped my passport off on the 24th which, it seems, was the same day as you on the 10th, strange

Yep, easy.

Easy to do I did last week

I suggest you go Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

Two small shops across the street can help fill out your paperwork

Drop off before 11am get back next day after 2pm

Coat is 5000bt

every shop and vendor wants Baht not USD.

New hotel across the street from Embassy. 1000bt very nice.

you need usual things

marriage certificate

and copy

house book and copy

wife's ID and copy

2 photos

passport

I've used Savannakhet several times. Question - does this agent allow you to skip the queue? Normally whenever I've been, there hasn't been any queue and I would either bring a self-printed form already filled out with me or (the 1st time I went) I'd get the form from the consulate, fill it out and then hand it in along with my documents once I'm done.

So unless the agent across the street can skip any queues that may form, there's no point in paying him. Easy to do it yourself.

well worth the 100 but in my opinion

So using the agent allows you to skip the queue? That hasn't been made clear so far. If yes, then paying the 100 or 200 Baht would be worth it (if there is an actual queue...so far I haven't seen one but I haven't been yet post-Covid).

Thank you for all this information, it's very useful. For the book house and my wife's identity card, do I need the original or a copy?
Jeffrey **********
@คาร์ลิโต้ *******
best to have both

they look at the original and take the copy

It's easy to do yourself. Passport back next working day.

Hi. I need help with this. Asking for my husband.

1. If we would like to apply for a Non-O Thai wife there, does the wife has to go there too?

2. Does the husband need to have some days left before the old visa expired before applying for the new one?

Thank you 🙏
Steve *******

No need for wife to go and no need for days left on the old visa.
