How are you getting your country mail in Thailand? Are you using a USA company to forward your mail and if so who? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
Many expats in Thailand use a variety of services for managing their mail from the US. Options include virtual mailboxes like Anytime Mailbox, iPostal1, and myus.com, which scan and forward mail as needed. Some individuals prefer to use a trusted friend or family member's address to receive important documents or packages, while others opt for completely paperless solutions. The responses highlight personal experiences and preferences regarding mail forwarding and handling while living abroad.

I use myus.com in Florida. They will ship anywhere. 70$ a year for the mailbox.

For my mail in the US, I use a virtual mailbox that scans and emails each piece to me. If it looks important, I can ask them to open and scan the contents. Every quarter, I get around 30-40 pieces of mail. When storage fees start adding up, I have them send everything to Thailand via UPS. I also pick up accumulated mail during my trips to the US. It's a pretty good system. I know many people say they have gone completely paperless but I find that to be quite untrue for me. So be prepared for processing physical mail as you'll need it eventually.

I gave somebody trustworthy the key to my mailbox and pay him to open my mail, take a pic of every page of the important stuff and send it to me on Whatsapp

Get a virtual mailbox. They scan and digitally send you any mail you receive. With paperless statements you will find that you really don't get anything that important. We've been gone for over 4 years and haven't found the need to have anything 'forwarded' to us.

Why would you be getting bank statements in the mail? Every bank should offer paperless statements. Even when we lived in the US, we only did paperless statements/billing.

We haven't had to get any credit cards yet, but they will forward anything to you. Or have it sent to a family member and have them send it via UPS or DHL.

I use my sister’s address as my US address. The only time it really counts is when I get a credit card sent. It goes to her first and she the sends it to me. Social Security has my Thai address. Amazon packages are sent to my Thai address. The mail system here is pretty good.

Amazon charges a fortune for shipping to Thailand ?

It isn’t Amazon. It would be Thai tariffs. Amazon estimates the tariffs and refunds anything you overpay. You know what you are paying when on the Amazon website.

Anytime mailbox South Dakota branch. South Dakota allows you to become a domiciled resident after spending 1 night in the state. Good option if you want to avoid paying state income taxes. They will open and scan any mail you want to read then shred or forward to you.

if you reside in Thailand, why do you need to also have a state residency?

banking and handling investments are easier to deal with. No need to show proof of life every year to social security. Ditching state income tax asap. You never know when you will need to go back for whatever reason. Are my reasons I am sure others have other reasons.
