Is an instant access savings account sufficient to meet the 500k requirement for my visa application to Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Just a quick question on 500k requirement.

Applying from london

I understand it needs to be shown in accessible bank account not fixed savings or crypto etc

I have this money in an instant access savings account... so it is accessible. Would this be ok or would I need to withdraw into my checking account.

Might seem like a silly question just want to be prepared and thinking ahead.

Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 500k bank requirement for a Thai visa can be satisfied with funds in an instant access savings account, as these accounts are considered accessible. However, it's advisable to ensure that the funds remain untouched during the duration of your visa to avoid complications upon re-entry, as immigration officers may ask for proof of the savings.

Savings or checking as long as its not in property or investments.

I would recommend a savings account you do not touch while you have the DTV. People are being asked upon re-entry on DTV to prove they have the savings requirement avaible, fail to have it they will deny entry and cancel your DTV.

This isnt 100% it depends on the IO Better safe then sorry

Unless you just know a couple of shady characters that IO had been alerted about.

Also what dtv did these two apply for work cation or soft activities? If remote working and has bank statements to show fees earned each month, even if the balance of funds was below 500k, not going to cancel the person dtv 😅 The whole story is somewhat dubious

I suggest you realign your tin foil hat and try again with something resembling evidence for your claim.

so you are saying the IO at the airport cancelled their DTV? Highly unusual and I didn't think they had the ability to cancel a valid visa. I'm sure someone will confirm if they can. It appears you have a story and you are sticking to it. Without proof not many here will believe it.

ok think that all you wish make that mistake if you want but I wouldnt take the risk, granted its rare but still happens just depends on the IO. I had other people tell me the same thing when I told them the visa runs for exempt was being stopped and then it happened to the same people who said the same thing you did. 🙃

It is rare but you know 2 people personally while nobody else does. You must be considered bad luck for DTV holders - a jinx

border bounce AND visa runs are very different than having a DTV visa in your passport.

that sounds a bit fanciful, do you have evidence of anyone on a dtv being denied entry for having less than 500k thb, or are you just going on hearsay ?🤔

what nationality are they, so they aren't able to come back into to Thailand on an approved DTV. Where are they now then?🤔

didnt say I did or dont perhaps not being a troll too much. Im only saying this cause I know 2 people who didnt have the funds accessible as when they applied while re-entering and was denied entry had to leave and start the process all over again. One doesnt have the funds cause they spent it on buying and investing

so you are saying that the person who is now in VN had a DTV visa, arrived AND was asked to show proof of the 500,000 Thai baht in their bank account, could NOT... and was DENIED entry, their DTV visa was cancelled by the Thai Immigration officer and sent back to where their flight originated... ????

AND now they are applying again for the DTV visa in VN ???

Anecdotes are not data. Until you show some proof nobody is going to beleive your word of mouth. There is not one other person, either self reporting or of acquaintance s, that have heard of this.

no, “I’ve not seen it so it isn’t true” is incorrect. I’ve not seen ANY EVIDENCE that it’s true. Again please provide a source for your claim.

pardon me but being asked by Thai immigration officers on your arrival to show proof of the bank balance is a rarity. While it's recommended that you have with you a copy of the DTV Visa application documents to show if asked... that's a rarity too. But good to have with you.
