And is this friend being asked for proof of onward travel when they are getting a VISA from a thai consulate before they wing their way here OR showing the proof of onward travel when they are checking in for their flight here OR showing proof of onward travel when they are stamping IN to thailand once they're here?

, unless they have an extensive history of living here on back-2-back tourist visas or visa exempt entries they won't be asked for proof of onward travel when they stamp IN to thailand at passport control OR when they get a 30 day extension
