Is a Sponsor Letter Required for Non-O Visa Application at Thai Embassy in Hanoi?

Am planning to apply for Non O being over 50 from Thai Embassy Hanoi.

Question I would appreciate guidance on. Is a Sponsor Letter required, in addition to meeting both other financial requirements.

Have the adequate monies already in bank plus can show evidence of monthly deposits.

The information on the website is a bit ambiguous.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
