Good morning, i have to organise my trip out of Thailand next week

At the expiry of my current visa exemption extension, it will be 3 month and a week before i reachi 50 yo.

First question that i have to find an answer to is how many days left on Visa exemption extension are needed after turning 50 to be able to apply for a retirement non-o.visa.

Because I have to choose between either doing 2 one day trip border bounce OR doing only one trip out but stay several days abroad.

My Immigration office is Jomtien .

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Non-O retirement visa after turning 50, you need a minimum of 15 days remaining on your current visa exemption extension. Options include doing two one-day border trips or one longer trip abroad. If you choose to apply in Jomtien, ensure you have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account for at least two months before applying, as this office has stricter requirements.

Leave and apply for the non-o in another country it’s probably the only way you’ll get a bank account opened in these times then get you 800k in there 2 full months before you apply for your one year extension,you’ve done an exempt with a extension so if you just bounce prepare to be pulled aside and grilled possibly getting denied entry there getting tough now

Is there a minimum medical insurance requirement on this ?

not with a Non-O Visa

Sorry for another question, but does the 800k need to be in a bank (home country) when applying for the initial visa abroad ?

You only need 800k in a Thai bank account when applying for the initial Non-O from inside Thailand. Applying from outside Thailand it can be any bank account in your name only.

very interesting, is it less hassles to do it i in an other country compared to thailand? Is a bank statement enough or they want to see other proofs of funds? What Other documents are needed? Thx

If you don't have a Thai bank account then getting the Non-O from outside Thailand is the only option and can mean a stay of two weeks or more in the country where you are applying from. The Embassy website will have their specific requirements for the Non-O application but a bank statement of one to three months is sufficient.

I have a Thai bank account so It sounds like that this option not the best for me as 2 weeks is quite a long wait. Thanks

there’s only a couple offices that require the money seasoned for the non-o but it’s still the way to go before you arrive in Thailand

Thanks. Required on extension or not ?

In Jomtien you need a minimum of 15 days left on your current 60 day visa exempt entry or the 30 day extension from that entry to apply for the in country 90 day Non-O visa.

Remember if you don't come from a country whose embassy here issues the affidavit of income from abroad notary letter (which you use to show proof of funds) in Jomtien you have to have the 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the initial 90 day Non-O visa (most offices only require it in the account on the date you apply BUT not Jomtien)

because the 800k are mentionned, I have it already on a Thai account and it was international transfer.

I've read before that I need a letter of the bank as well as the bankbook as a proof.

I've changed passport recently and I've read that if you change your passport you need a new bankbook to show to immigration.

So do I need a new bankbook before going to immigration where international transfer won't appear.

What the best way to proceed ? Bring old and new bankbook + bank letter to immigration

@Pierre *******
you go to the bank and update their information, (you shouldn't get a new bank book unless this one is out because it doesn't show your passport number)

You need the bank letter, a detail print out of 3 months of transactions and update the bank book the date you apply

ok thanks the info that the passport number was engraved somewhere in the bankbook is apparently fake. Thanks again

@Tod ********
Does that mean it has to be in 2 months in advance wherever you come from if you are doing the 800k method or just certain countries ?

@Andrew ********
, it is applicable for anyone who wants to use the banked money method for an initial in-country Non-O retirement visa at Jomtien.

@Andrew ********
in Jomtien you need to have the 800K baht seasoned for 2 months before you apply for the Non-O from that office

thanks very much for the information. That would be at least 3 weeks out. A bit too much for my liking and hotels are not free... Will probably do 2 before my birthday exits then...
