How many days do you need to have left on your Non-O Visa to apply for an extension at Chang Wattana? In Pattaya I’m told they demand at least 20 days left

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Non-O Visa extension at Chang Wattana, you can do so even on the last day of your visa validity. However, it's noted that in Pattaya, some sources suggest needing at least 20 days left on your visa for the application due to the process requiring document submission to Bangkok for approval. In other locations like Bangkok and Chiang Mai, you can apply if you have 45 days or less remaining.

Thank you for the answer. It was the same in Amnat Charoen when I lived in Isaan but somebody informed me that in Pattaya you need at least 20 days left on your stamp to apply for an extension. This is due to they have to send the documents to Bangkok for approval .

I believe you are confusing the amount of time you need on your current stamp to APPLY for a Non-O visa in Pattaya with the amount of time you need on a Non-O to apply for an extension.
You can walk up the very last day your Non-O stamp is good for and apply for a yearly extension.
In Bangkok and CHiang Mai you can apply for an extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp, other offices are 30 days or less and some are 2 weeks or less.
