ORIGINAL POSTER
I will be doing my first My NON-Immigrant O Visa Renewal. It expires on July 29, 2026. How long does the 800,000 baht need to be untouched in my bank account before July 29, 2026?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

TLDR : Answer Summary
To renew your NON-Immigrant O Visa, the 800,000 baht must remain untouched in your bank account for at least 2 months before your application for renewal on July 29, 2026. Additionally, it must maintain a minimum balance of 400,000 baht throughout the year. For the first 3 months of your current extension, the balance must be 800,000 baht.

If you plan it correctly the 800k is "tied up" for just over 5 months then 400k for the rest on the first year. That's a lot?

Varies by Immigration Office. Ask wherever you plan to apply.

Always go before you start the process to get the list of current requirements for your extension from the Immigration Office where your will be applying

It needs to be 800k for the first 3 months of your current extension then never fall below 400k until 2 calendar months before your new extension application when it needs to be 800k again.

the OPclearly stated this would be there first renewal which we should take to be extension. Why confuse them with the 3-month requirement right out of the gate? It's 2 months before and 3 months after.

It clearly is not the first extension as the "renewal" will be in July which is 6 months away so it is a new extension not the first extension (who plans their extension before getting their Non-O?)

Yes but they require 3 months of statements to ensure 2 full calendar months of seasoning as that is the national norm.

yea. The national norm doesn't apply in every immigration office. Here in Sa Kaeo it is 2 calendar months for the first extension of stay and 3 calendar months for subsequent extensions of stay. It's not the only province where immigration has this rule. Note he's doing a renewal so not the first extension of stay

The 800K baht need to be untouched for 2 months before the application.

(and 3 months after the application/extension, with a minimum balance of 400K baht all year. Same requirements apply for subsequent extensions, which in practice means up to 800K baht again 2 months in the end of the current one).
