TLDR : Answer Summary
The 800,000 THB deposit for the Non-O visa must be maintained in your bank account for a set period. Specifically, it needs to be in your account for at least two months before applying for your initial visa. After you receive the visa, you must keep the full amount for three months. Subsequently, the balance can drop to 400,000 THB until two months before your next renewal, when you will need to return it to 800,000 THB.

As someone else on this page told me

First application for retirement visa

800,000B in bank account for 2 months prior to application

Upon successful application 800,000B minimum for 3 months

Beyond that balance is allowed to drop to a minimum of 400,000B until 2 months prior to renewal where it needs to then be increased and maintained back at 800,000B and then repeat each year

For most immigrations it’s sufficient that the funds are in your account at date when you apply for the initial 90 days Non O visa. A couple of immigrations as an example Jomtien demands two months seasoning also for the visa.

When you apply for the first year extension and stay (and later extensions) the 800K baht needs to be seasoned for two months prior to your application and three months after the extension is issued and it can nevner drop below 400K baht.

I think that it's 3 months after and 2 months before.

And it must not drop below 400,000.

Might as well just leave it in there.

@Paul ******
agreed. I just leave it and have a separate Thai bank account for my daily spending so that there is never a need to touch my 800k Thb.

I'm getting something huge like 2% on my account. 🤣

I started to do the monthly transfer of 65,000 but it's too much hassle
Mel ******
@Paul ******
I won’t bother with the transfer since I am in a situation where that could result in a Thai tax bill.

I just think of the money in the bank as my moving out of Thailand money if anything drastic changes in my life.

yes, it’s always good to have a plan B. 😀 Although, I don’t think that I could afford to live anywhere else. If I went back to Texas I’d have to start working again. 😳

hehe moving back to USA is plan z for me. Hehe but I loved living in some other countries besides Thailand. Numbeo.com is great for getting ideas.

@Paul ******
So, 10 months of the year.

@Ralph ******
it doesn't "have" to be 10 months to meet the requirements, two months before applying then 3 months after does it need to be 800k then 2 months before your next extension (having never dropped below 400k) to use the 800k method for the subsequent year(s)
Ralph *******
@Graham *****
Yes. That’s only 5 months.

@Paul ******
Yeah, I gave up trying to calculate it but I think it’s 7.

@Ralph ******
last time I used a calculator I think 12 - 5 = 7, it's not so difficult to calculate.
