How long does it typically take to receive a Thai Tourist Visa from China?

yes i had same fear. nowadays many more people use e visa system to get the visas, so it seems it needs more time. i wait 13 Days. im scared. but finally it goes through.

Normally it takes about 4 a 5 weeks

The people commenting have obviously not applied in China. I applied through Beijing and have been “pending approval” for 6 weeks now. I’ve also reached out to them because my flight was Aug 27 and they just tell me I need to wait and they are processed in the order they are received. They did not care that I had my flight, even though i applied with 5 weeks before my flight. So I’m now just stuck waiting

What is your nationality, which embassy/consulate?

Someone told me here that he had to wait 2 full months to receive the Tourist Visa, a couple of days BEFORE his flight. While others received it from 3-10 days, also on the date very very close to their flight date.

Thus i believe the system will sort out your application based on WHEN is your departure date. Or at least the officers whos job is checking out the credibility of attached documents, will likely see your booked flight and will prioritize your application based on the urgency.

Doesnt matter if you apply it 3 months in advance or 3 weeks prior to your departure, if every documents are perfectly acceptable, then you will receive your visa within a few days to a day BEFORE your flight. So it really is NOT about first come first serve basis, especially closer to high season.

I have had it take anywhere from 2 to 5 weeks. Other than the first application, it came through on the Friday night or Saturday morning before my departure. This seems to be how they triage the busy system.

When is the date of your flight, they are based it on First need basis as they are busy, and as long as pending,  it is still active.
