Hello everybody,

I recently applied to the LA consulate in the United States for a STV visa. I filled out everything which with all the desired paperwork on December 31st. I haven't heard anything back yet.

Anybody know how long it will take to receive word back from the consulate. My flight is on the 22nd of January so I'm very nervous. And advice would be appreciated on what you would do.

Thank you to anybody who reads this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the duration it takes to hear back from the Thai consulate in LA after applying for an STV visa, having submitted all paperwork on December 31st. This concern was shared by other users who provided varying experiences, with some reporting response times within a few days while others faced significant delays and struggled to communicate with the embassy. Comments suggested that it could take anywhere from a few days to over a week, particularly considering holiday closures.

We had a O-A retirement visa and it required other things also we had insurance from retirement that also took a little longer.. At the time they were so busy they just took longer to respond if there were issues, the only way we found out about the issue was to call, probably spent 40 hours on hold over the course of 3 weeks... 9 days delay because they didn't tell us we could not use joint money even though there was 5 times the monthly amount needed... Wife must have own account with own money and 6 days over the insurance issue..

wow...40 hours on hold!! Right now...being on hold isn’t even an option, I’ve called the RTE DC but voice mail just says all personnel are unavailable please call back later.

I know, we have seen our grandchildren every 5 months for the 11 years they have lived in Thailand and hadn't seen them since January, I refused to let them win.. Called one day and asked to speak to the one person I had talked to and was told oh we know who you are.. After 4 weeks they finally were nice and very accommodating, they can be testy though..

thanks...I’ll keep trying and stay patient but persistent!

I had a very fast response time from LA Consulate in October...3 days from when they told me to send in the info until I received my Visa.

Make sure all your stuff was refundable.

@Harr****
no monies sent to Embassy's are refundable, this is why they only accept money orders..

when did you apply? December? Yes, closed on 31st and 1st and probably have a lot of more applications sent in December and January.

I’m in exact same situation with the Thai embassy DC. I’ve sent 5 emails to the Embassy DC but no reply. Called 5 times but no answer.

this is exactly why I’m done with Thailand atm. Unless I’m getting in visa free or visa on arrival I’m not going. If they can’t handle a simple visa processing operation then they don’t deserve your money. Mexico, Colombia and the Maldives are all open and welcoming people.

thank you for your advice...but I think the LA consulate in the US is probably different than your consulate in Netherlands.

The OP is asking specifically about consulate in US.
