Hello everyone i have been reading the posts and hope that some of the very knowledgeable people here can help me.

I will be arriving in May with my husband and infant children on an AO visa based on age. My first question is after how long do i have to be in the country before we can apply for the retirement visa?

My second question is does anyone have an idea how long the process is to obtain the retirement visa?

I thank you in advance for your help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on applying for a retirement visa in Thailand after arriving on an AO visa with their family. They inquire about the timeframe required in the country before applying and the expected duration for the retirement visa processing. Comments clarify that the so-called 'retirement visa' is actually the Non Immigrant O-A visa and that the family will hold different visas, with a possible 1-year stay upon arrival.

As many people like to call it a "retirement visa" it simply does not exist in Thailand. You come to Thailand with the Non Immigrant O-A (Long Stay) visa, which is a visa called by some a retirement visa. You get 1 year of stay on arrival, please check the date directly on return of passport. As long as you leave and enter Thailand before the valid until or enter before date you get 1 year of stay. If planned correctly you can get 2 years of stay out of this visa.
