TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether to choose a Non-O or OA retirement visa for cost and application procedure. A respondent suggests the Non-O visa due to its easier extension process and lower financial requirements compared to the OA visa. The discussion also touches upon applying for the visa after three months in Thailand, concerns about financial proof, and living arrangements related to marriage to a Thai citizen.

Go for a Non O. Much less demands to get it and to extend it. Extension in Thailand doen't need a mandatory insurance. In fact for me they are practicly the same. So go for the easy one. I see no benifit in taking a OA.

I got my Non O visa 4 years ago and did 4 yearly extensions bases on retirement. Without any problems. Easy process. I must admit i am lucky I can still use a validated income statement from my Embassy in Bangkok. So no mandatory money in a Thai Bank.

What do you really want to do with "cost-wise"?

What does your "cost" mean?

As the official fee for an in-country visa, 2K thb, or extension, 1900thb, are always the same.

Do you count the funds in your bank? Then how do you want to calculate your saving in Thailand or in your country?

How do you want to calculate the insurance cost?

How about the money transfer fee?

Too many uncertain factors in your post for people to give you decent advice.

Those only you can decide.

Some people are happy to pay insurance in Thailand rather than having funds transferred to Thailand. Some people are happy to have their savings in Thailand. On and on..

I got my answer.

The cost I was referring to was either the 65k monthly or 800k.

I wanted to know if I could apply fir a incountry retirement visa with the monthly income not the 800k ( cost ).

All the other costs I know.

On a retirement visa you get to avoid someone coming to your house to take photos of you and your wife sitting on your bed. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Iโ€™m on a non-o based on marriage and I keep 800k seasoned in my account on the off chance I go to immigration to renew and something goes pear shaped and I just give in and do a retirement visa to avoid anymore hassles.

I don't think OP is comparing Non-OA and Non-O being married to a Thai. But he is checking Non-OA vs Non-O based on being 50.

All people see cost differently. Some calculate risk cost, too. Some take only fees.

What is your home country?

Does your Embassy provide an Affidavit of Income to prove your income to Thai Immigration?

Why are you living by yourself in Thailand and nor with your Thai wife?

Are you still legally married?

She will have to be with you when you apply for a year extension based on Marriage and when Thai Immigration officers visit your home and interview neighbors about your living with wife at home address.

it seems like I can not get myself over to everyne to understand.

I got married to a thai in 2007 and she stayed with me รฌn South Africa 17 years even before marriage.

She went back to Thailand in Feb 2021 as her mother had a stroke. I still support her. Sending her money every month.

Nkw I have not seen her for over 11 months.

She want me to stay with her in Thailand.

Tnerefore I have to have the 400k marriage or 800k retiremet in the bank.

I have a pension of
*****
baht plus monthly.

I wanted to use this to get my retirement visa.

I have letters as proof.

I am sometimes concerned as some people say on the second year the want to see the 800k in bank.

I then also tried to get the paperwork sorted out but in SA it is not so easy.

I can not even get a police clearance cerrificate.

I have funds for mendical covid and everything needed.

My problem is to get all the paperwork in place.

That is also why I asked about the O visa so I can rather do it all in Thailand.

I just do not want to be rejected for some reason.

Also not the second year and wach year thereafter.

I think that it might be confusing why I ask all these questions over and over.

Thanks for your patience with me.

I will apply for the non O visa and extend it after the 3 months to 1 year.

I was just trying to get away from the 800k and wojld have preferred the monthly 65k but apparently can not be done when applying in Thailand.

Will stop asking so many questions in future.

Thanks and be blessed.

your questions are fine...now that we know more of the underlying facts. Entering Thailand then getting the visa and extension is a good plan.

Frankly I am confused by your many posts of recent months...

If you are still married to a Thai...

It's simple ...get the one year non o extension of stay based on Marriage to Thai. Only 400,000 Thai baht in bank vs 800,000 for retirement visa extension of stay.

"If I am married to A Thai but want to stay at a place of my choice, hiw will this work in relation to proof of where she stay photos house book etc?"

I'm not confused, I'm amused, about the forigner want stay in Thailand under somtime incredible circumstances
Khun ******
That's true, for myself come without Visa, only for 30 days, Sandbox System, Thai Passport registration. Before Corvid19 was easy, booking ticket, go to airport, Hallo Thailand. Somtime I read about Visa, expiry, extend or overstay problems from forigner. My impression is, You and some Moderator here, are very well informed about Visa Rules and therefore you are so helpful in this community. Gratulation and Greetings from ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น

the problem is getting all the paperwork legalized for the .arried visa. One department contradict thee other. I went ti a Notary public lawyer. It is then supposed to go rhe high court. The lawyer say it can not be done. Yhen it mist go to Dirco before to the Thai embassy.

Dirco want the origanal marriage certificate but rhen it will not have the red seal on it from Notary public lawyer meaning they will.not accept it at rhe embassy.

That is why I vhange or try different avenues. It is not easy this side.

If Thailand would have accepted my marriage certifivate with the visa all whould have been fine. I spoke ro the embassy.

They want it offenticated by Notary piblic, then by the high court then by Dirco and lastly by the embassy. I do not know how others mannaged to legalized their marriages in Thailand.

As you can see...that is why I struggle and therefore want to divert back.to retirement visa.

I hope it make sense what I am trying to explain.
