I’m impressed with Cha Am immigration and department of transportation today.

In a little under 2 hours I have been to immigration to complete my 90 day reporting, get a certificate of residency and a multiple entry stamp. I then went a little down the road to the transport office to apply for and receive my Thailand driving licence.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post highlights a positive experience with Cha Am immigration, where the author efficiently completed a 90-day reporting, obtained a certificate of residency, and received a multiple-entry stamp in under two hours. They also applied for and received their driving license at the Department of Land Transport shortly after. Comments from other users reflect on the efficiency of these government departments in Cha Am, noting the lower foreigner population compared to places like Phuket or Pattaya, and mention the importance of having the required documents to ensure a smooth process.

Yes Cha-am immigration are always easy to deal with, fast and efficient as are the DLT especially when you make sure you have all the required documents. Glad your experience was a good one.

I have been luck enough to live in Cha Am for 8 years now. In that time have interacted with many Government departments. Up to how it has been a pleasure to deal with them all.

No. I took the following documents;

Medical certificate

Residency certificate ( from immigration)

International driving permit

Passport

Uk driving licence.

All were photocopied. I signed them took a couple of tests checking eyes and stopping speed.

Paid the fee and received my licenses.

All done in just under 1 hour

I presented years ago and received a short term (maybe 1 year or 2) year DL with simple test. The past year I presented on a one year visa and I was required to take 6 hour video and approximately 50 question test and driver’s course test for MC and one for car. Multiple days of testing.
