How early can I report for my 90-day visa check in Thailand and does it affect the next reporting date?

Apologies if this has been asked and answered - I did a search and couldn’t find it.

My 90 day report is due 18 Dec - how early can I go and does it then affect my next 90 day report date (eg if I go on 12 Dec will it be 90 days from this date or from the original report date)?
