When I was in the USA I received a one year O-A Retirement Visa. I originally arrived November 2018 and it was stamped permitting me one year from the date of my arrival. Just yesterday I returned again from being outside the country and again it was stamped to expire one year from yesterday.
Will Thai immigration continue to provide me one year expiration dates until when? If I time my last excursion and return, should I return just prior to the original expiration date issued on my visa which effectively means the one year O-A Retirement visa, if timed correctly is can be 2 year visa???
And what about the re-entry permit, after one year do I have apply for a new re-entry permit, or is this extended too?
When and if I need to get a new re-entry permit at the one year anniversary of the originally issued O-A Visa must I show proof of 800,000 baht in Thai bank account?
Thank you for clarification.
Robert
TLDR : Answer Summary
The O-A Retirement Visa is issued for one year upon arrival in Thailand, with the option to extend for another year by re-entering the country before the expiration date. Expats can potentially manage to have their presence in Thailand for up to two years by strategically returning just prior to the visa expiration. It's important to note that after one year, a new re-entry permit is generally required. Additionally, when applying for the re-entry permit, proof of having 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account may be necessary.
