Would you be so kind as to share your experiences with the DTV Soft Power programme?
My main question is:
How is it possible that, by paying for a few month cookery or Muay Thai course, you can obtain a five-year visa?
Answer summary
The DTV Soft Power programme allows participants to obtain a five-year visa through payment for short courses, such as cooking or Muay Thai. However, the visa typically permits a maximum stay of 180 days per visit, despite its long-term nature. This programme has evolved from its original conception as a digital nomad visa to encompass various cultural experiences, yet some individuals misuse it for extended stays, prompting adjustments to the rules. The visa can be seen as more of a temporary invitation rather than a guaranteed right to stay.

Wellness visa 5-10 years leave it on us? 100% never rejected .
Manuel Buitrago Robles: Excellent question. But, keep in mind that the allowed period of stay is limited to 180 days. The intent of the visa is that the holder can visit for a limited period of time but can make multiple visits over a period of 5 years. Hence it is a visitor visa, not a long-stay visa as many people [successfully] try to use it for. (The rate of success may be changing?)
The DTV is somewhat analogous to the US visitor visa, which is a 10-year visa with each stay limited to the amount of time required for the purpose of the visit.
That's a question most of us have been asking. The visa started out as a digital nomad visa, but was then expanded to include cultural experiences, music festivals, and visiting family. The visiting family was dropped, as there is already a visa for this purpose. They then discovered that undesirable visitors were using this visa to stay full-time in Thailand, so they changed the rules in an effort to combat this. I think the soft power side of this visa should be changed to a 12-month visa, renewable annually with checks on compliance.
Why shouldn’t workation be annually checked? Why do those people need go work in Thailand for 5 years? What evidence do you have they maintain their employment after receiving the visa?
Dtv is a program of a previous government to boost economy after covid. Current government has a different vision of tourist business in Thailand. So this is just a visa and any immigration officer can stop you at the border. So don't treat your dtv visa as stay allowance this is more or less some kind of invitation that can be rejected anytime while crossing the border.
