How do I fill out the Thai Digital Arrival Card without a return flight for my one-way ticket?

Hi, I’m currently in Australia preparing to return to Thailand in a few weeks. One way ticket purchased a few months ago and now attempting to fill out the Thai Digital Arrival Card.

As I said, I’ve only booked one way as I’m expecting to get the 60 days visa free on arrival, then hoping to extend for an extra month by paying the 1,900 THB nearer the expiration of the 60 days. My problem is that in filling out the TDAC they want to know the date and details of my return flight? In the past I would have just purchased a fully refundable flight, but from what I know now these are no longer available? Any help would be appreciated?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user preparing to return to Thailand with a one-way ticket is encountering issues while filling out the Thai Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), specifically regarding return flight details. Several responses suggest leaving the return flight section blank as it is non-mandatory, though it may depend on the airline's policies. Some users recommend purchasing a cheap ticket or a refundable option for security. The TDAC must be completed within 72 hours of arrival. It's crucial to keep in mind that airlines may have their own requirements about having a return ticket, and some travelers have faced issues checking in with one-way tickets without demonstrating proper visa arrangements.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be agents.co.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

Might be silly question but do Thai nationals need to fill out a TDAC upon returning to Thailand?
Graham ******
@David *******
why would they with a Thai passport?

I just did the TDAC form day before yesterday. Arrived yesterday on one-way ticket. Left return flight details blank. No problem. Safe travels!

Will your airline let you board with a one way ticket??without the proper visa
Kym ******
Too early. Can only complete it 3 days before arrival
Graham ***********
It's optional, not a compulsory field
Ant ***********
Return info leave blank

Also fill in TDAC within 3 days of flying
Graham ******
@Ant **********
indeed, not a few weeks
Wannikea *********
Can complete TDAC only when there are 72 hours or less before your arrival time.
Craig **********
Cover all bases and buy a cheap throw away air ticket to Vietnam or Cambodia.Even a cheap bus ticket crossing a border will do.
John **********
You can only complete the TDAC inside 72 hours of arrival

Singapore air pulled us about our travel plans regarding visa. So as said it will be your airline.

Thailand never ask for a return flight.

check the website, this is the only official one:

The only person who would ask is the airline. If flying Jetstar you will most likely uses a self check-in kiosk so nobody will ask. It is not a compulsory information to fill for the TDAC just leave it blank

@Luciano **********
a new dilemma is that you have to indicate the motive travel and the details on the TDAC. It is an official document so I would not advise to qualify information on the TDAC. So best to purchase an actual ticket and use that information.

@Chuck *******
if you are travelling oneway you are not misleading. It is not a compulsory field to fill in the date you are leaving
Graham ******
You say "in the past". Do you have a history of Visa Exempt entries and extensions because entering Thailand now without the correct visa are not how they were in the past?

The return details is a non-obligatory field (no asterisk), but as Lloyd says it MIGHT be your airline that demands to see your return ticket. There's no fixed rule. I came in one-way ten days ago and the airline did NOT ask about my return ticket but they DID demand to see the TDAC.

I did one recently and left that box empty

I’m filling out the form online and those questions are shown with a red *, meaning you can’t continue without answering those questions?
Rod *********
@Kel *******
date of arrival has a red * date of departure doesn’t
Lloyd ********
It the airline who may refuse to board you without a visa or a return flight.

yes last week my friend was refused at check in as the return was beyond the the 60 day tourist visa. She was planning to convert to retirement visa so had made the return 90days later. But airline refused her until her return flight was brought forward.

So I guess its up to the airline 🤷🏻‍♀️

yes I’m the friend.

I checked in online & was ok. But when I got to the desk, I had to change my “return” date to within 60 day period

I had no problem with the TDAC, I was in the 90 day but then couldn’t amend to the less that 60 days. No problem at immigration though
