TLDR : Answer Summary
To renew your expired Thai driving license, contact the Department of Land Transport (DLT). If your license has been expired for less than a year, you can renew it by bringing your passport, visa, a medical certificate, and a residence certificate from immigration. In some cases, online appointment systems are available, and it's advisable to visit in the afternoon when it's less busy. If it's been over a year since your license expired, you may need to retake the tests from the beginning.

You can renew if up to a year expired.

As per other comments, you need a residency letter from Immigration (within a month of applying), a medical certificate (within a week of applying) and a print out of successful completion of the online tests (done within a month of applying). All of these are pretty standard reqs everywhere though the validity periods may vary from office to office (I did mine in Samui).

If it is less than one year expired then you can renew. You need your passport with copy of bio page, entry stamp and visa plus a certificate of residence from immigration to confirm your current address. You will also need a medical certificate which you can obtain from any clinic. Many offices now work on an online appointment system so check out if you need an appointment or not. If you don't need an appointment then I suggest you go there in the afternoon as it is usually more quiet. Thai culture is to go the government offices as early as possible.

Go in with a Thai person and get the translation sorted. So long as your license isn’t expired more than 12 months, you have yellow book, address hasn’t changed and health. Clearance from the medicine shop (100thb) .. sounds like there might be some confusion about your current address not matching yellow book?

Roger Cottrell You don't need a yellow book if you get a certificate of residence from immigration.

Can do online. Get the required paperwork. Doctors cert. etc. get on the smart Q system. Do the test online. Takes 1 hour. Video. Answer the questions at the end.

Then take all your paperwork to the transport office in your province ! On the date you have booked online!

Ian Morrison I did both, there both done on the same little track. The car is about stopping at the correct point, the bike is driving on a raised bit without putting feet down. Both I had to do tests on computer

It seems that there is a period during which it's possible to renew a driving licence after it has expired without have to start the process over again from the beginning (Maybe some months ?).

Assuming that it has expired unlikely you will be able to renew it

Mine expired a couple of years ago and I had to start the process over again from the beginning including doing the written and practical test again

Jay Cutler no, if not exp more than 12 months is fine. 2. If it has and the person has a license at home then it’s a simple eye reaction test..
