I am an American and I'm currently applying for soft power dtv through the Washington embassy. Im on the "Document indicating current location". I'm currently staying with my mom while I'm here so I don't have any "documentation". Is going and getting a hotel the only way around this? Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
An American applicant for a DTV visa is seeking guidance on providing a document indicating their current location while staying with family, as they lack formal documentation. Responses suggest alternative proofs such as a driver's license, text messages, selfie with location tags, or using a relative's address to demonstrate residency.

Take a photo with geo location coordinates turned on and the time stamp showing

Dont over think it. I had a non o visa (no home address). I applied using my aunts address in which I just had some mail at her house to prove residence. Had no issues with Washington at all in regards to that.

I applied for DTV while I was staying with my mom in South Carolina. But using my aunts address in Florida as I was previously lived there and wanted to keep my vehicle information and all there due to tax reasons

Hi Mando, as an American citizen you may also show a valid driving license if you're unable to provide utility bills in your name.

Feel free to reach out to us for any other questions you have. We've successfully supported over 120 applicants through the DTV visa process with our cooking school so we're quite familiar with the process.

Driving licence or bank statement showing address is enough at this embassy

I used my driver's licence when I applied in Canada. I think the North American embassies are not very strict about this like the embassies near Thailand, especially when you are applying in your home country.

I made a document for this with boarding pass, hotel booking etc as I traveled but I also included selfie with the airport arrivals screen showing the date lol. And another photo where I swiped up showing my iPhone location as Bali and screenshotted it. Maybe you can take selfie and show date and location at the local bank or something where there's a screen showing time and date?
