Hello everyone, I’m flying to Bangkok on the 15th and staying for a month . I’m not just going for vacation but to see if I would like to live there. If so, how long does it take to get a visa and can I stay there while I wait?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is traveling to Bangkok for a month to explore living there and is inquiring about visa options and processing times. Comments indicate that US citizens can enter Thailand visa-exempt for 60 days. Various visa types are suggested, including Non-Immigrant O and OA, which require applications from outside Thailand. Specific age and financial requirements exist for certain visas, and it's noted that work permits are needed for employment in Thailand.

Various visa options dependent on your circumstances. If you are over fifty then ‘non O’ may be your best choice. This you apply for from outside of Thailand. There are financial requirement in order to qualify.

Also, be aware that you can’t work there without a work permit. So, you need to be of independent means.

Alot depends on your age what visa is suitable

Go to Thailand Embassy site and find what kind of visa you want, E-visa is online. Non- immigrant- O. or OA might be the way for you (just a guess), Do from outside Thailand.

Assuming you are from the US you don’t need a visa to enter Thailand. You can enter on a visa exempt entry stamp for 60 days.

age? You can apply for a Non-O visa based on being over 50 in the country you reside in ( online application), enter thailand, open bank account, deposit required 800,000 tbt funds, and then extend for 12 months. So long as you meet the requirements each year you can extend again for 12 months.

You cannot get permanent residency online.

o visa based on retirement would be the visa you need. It can be done in the US as an OA visa but requirements are different. Check the Thai embassy page.
