TLDR : Answer Summary
The necessity of a certified one-year bank statement for a Non-O retirement visa extension at the Jomtien immigration office depends on the financial proof method used. There are various ways to demonstrate financial stability, and requirements may differ by office. Some users stated that twelve months of bank statements showing a monthly income of 65,000 THB are acceptable for renewal, while others discussed past requirements of a single updated copy of a passbook. Generally, keeping funds at the required minimum for the appropriate time is crucial, and local practices may vary.

I never understood why people complain about getting a 1 year bank statement. So easy to do. Just do it.

OK for your "better question" - Is Jomtien requiring a certified statement for a non-O 1 year retirement extension showing 800k properly seasoned in the bank for 1 year? Previously only a updated current copy of the passbook was needed.

Johnson Mike for the B800k it is normally 3 months prior (some offices say 4) and you need to keep it there for 3 or 4 months afterwards, and (assuming you will want to extend again next year) it cannot fall below B400k, and again you will need to up it again to B800k 3-4 months prior to your NEXT extension request.

The year-long requirement is not for the B800k route, but rather for the B65k monthly route, where they want to see 12m worth of monthly deposits to prove your enduring external income.

Stuart Chiverton for a one year extension of stay? They have always required one with the requisite bank statements and passbook. Or so I thought, which is what I have done for the past 10 years.

that depends on which kind of financial proof you are doing. There are FOUR different ways to do the financial proof required for the application to the extension of the stay permit, and it also depends on the specific Immigration office (the rules can differ between different offices)
