Do South African citizens need a KITAS or KITAP to reside in Indonesia, and how does that compare to Vietnam or Cambodia?

Good evening everyone . I have a quick question we are doing the soft power Muay Thai . I want to ask I see Indonesia ask for South Africans citizens a KITAS or KITAP ( temp resident or permanent resident permit ) does anyone know if this is asked or have any information about this ? If this is true , would Vietnam or Cambodia be a better option to go and apply ?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires whether South African citizens need a KITAS or KITAP to reside in Indonesia, noting that the Indonesian immigration process can be lengthy for African passports. The commenter mentions that applying in Vietnam was a smooth experience but also mentions the potential stress involved. Another commenter notes that without a residence permit, the application could take 4-6 weeks to process. Overall, there is an implied comparison between Indonesia, Vietnam, and Cambodia for the application process.

Hanoi Vietnam was a smooth and quick process (super stressful!) but totally worth it in the end.

If I read what they say on their website correctly you can still apply there but if you don't have the residence permit it can take 4-6 weeks to process your application. This is pretty typical in the region for passports from African countries
