Hi to everyone.

I’m Italian and actually I am in Laos.

I’m waiting for the Thai tourist visa (after tomorrow I book an appointment at the thai ambassy in Vientiane) I don’t have the flight for came back to Italy yet (I’m Italian) because I want to stay as soon as possible in Thailand (I want to try to extend my tourist visa at Thai immigration when I’ll be in Thailand)

Same one says me that who don’t have the back tickets for the home country can have problem at Vientiane airport.

It is true.?

I have to book my flight to Italy before.?

Because I have same plans and I want to travel around little bit but right now I don’t exactly know when...

May be April or little bit more...

What I have to do.?

Thx to you all for information

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Italian expat in Laos is inquiring whether they need to book a flight back to Italy before applying for a Thai tourist visa at the embassy in Vientiane. They plan to travel in Thailand and possibly extend their stay but are unsure about needing proof of onward travel.

Okay you need to dial back your paranoia. When you BUY a tourist visa in Vientiane you CAN be asked to show proof of onward travel (within 60 - 90 days) Now how you show this is on you, figure it out.

Also when you stamp IN to the country you can be asked for proof of onward travel as well (although it is rare).

BUT When you go to get your 30 day extension for 1900baht on this 60 day tourist visa you will NOT be asked for onward travel by the immigration office.

You are allowed to come to Thailand for 60 days, you might extend that with another 30 days and then you have to leave Thailand.

Book onward travel and use it to leave Thailand, i think it does not make sense to book a throw away (money) ticket and then a real ticket to leave the country.

if you are worried about the Airline in Vientiane does not let you board because you have no onward ticket out of Thailand within the first 60 days of your Tourist visa, just follow the advices from above and book a cheap throw-away or able to cancel for free ticket

If you worry to get the visa, your are worried to get permission to stay inside Thailand and you get worried to apply for an Extension of Stay, i would suggest relax, forget al this time of worries and frustrations, re date your flight and go home. Or just man up, you are not the first foreigner who applied for a visa, went to Thailand and applied for an Extension of Stay. It is pretty normal that tourist do this.

Why would the Thai Immigration be a problem? They even know about Extension of Stay.

You can show the ticket from April to go back to your home country, a Thai Consulate know you can get 30 day Extension of Stay and allow onward travel within 90 days.

Ok, all the story is this:

I arrived in Thailand the first time at the end of November 2019.

I extended already one time for 30 days at immigration.

My extension expires 16 January 2020 and so I book a flight to Vientiane for vist Laos and also go to Thai ambassy in Vientiane for ask a 2 month tourist visa.

(After tomorrow I have appointment for do it)

30th. January 2020 I have a fly from Vientiane to Chiang Mai.

I want to try to ask another 30 days extension when my 2 month visa expire.

And than go back to Italy...

I can show the ticket for go back to Italy even if the flight is in April or I have to show same ticket good for the 2 month visa.?

(In March)

Sorry for my English but I hope you understand what I mean

Thx

If you are Italian and intend to go back at some point and if you can afford it book and ticket back home with a cheap option to change dates.

Just book a cheap ticket to a neighbouring country. You don't have to show that you're returning home, just show that you leave Thailand.
