Fairly straightforward question (I hope!)

UK national planning to apply for a 2 month Thai tourist visa from the embassy here in the UK. However, I will be stopping off in China en route to Thailand ie flying into to Chiang Mai from Kunming. 

Any problems? I’m assuming that I don’t have to fly into Thailand directly from the country that issued the visa?
