Has anyone successfully gone from a marriage visa to a DTV?

If yes, was it seamless? I searched the group but nothing came up.

Doesnt matter what visa you had before. You will need to make sure tje old visa is cancelled, and maybe respond why you are changing. In their mind, why change from a resident visa to "tourist" visa?

If you can afford it, maybe look at the elite instead

Update: We can be sure the immigration office at the airport lied. Because today my application was suspended due to missing documents, and the explanation said I needed to close my DTV visa. I can't reapply before February 23rd because of the Chinese New Year, so absolutely do not believe the information you get over the phone. I'm stuck in Vietnam, it's a terrible situation.

Interesting question, can I ask why you want to do that ? I have just got a DTV and possibly I would look at getting a marriage in 5 years time if I couldn't renew DTV

the renewal every year is quite a bit of hassle. Not only that but every year after the renewal is submitted there's a 30 day period where the visa is pending and you need to be in Thailand on the day they decide to issue it again. For my work, this is a nightmare. Plus there's the multi entry requirement and payment (although not much) that needs to be done. To do a visa once and not think about it again for 5 years is miles better in my opinion.

I had 2 friends both apply using the same soft power activity institution. The one that was trying to switch from marriage to DTV was rejected, the other (not on marriage visa) was granted.

And just generally - I don't know anyone who's done it so looking to see if others have.
