TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to obtain permanent residency in Thailand by being married to a Thai citizen without ever having worked in the country. However, there are other pathways to permanent residency, such as significant investment. Overall, the process and eligibility requirements should be carefully reviewed considering individual circumstances.
You can probably get it through significant investment (say around the 100 million range (approx 3 mill usd).. you'll pay enough taxes on that to qualify)
The way i look at it, permanent residency needs renewal every 5 years, very similar to 5 year elite card. There is also a 20 year long option, however, price difference is huge.
