Hi, I have been living in Thailand since 2012. I am french and I am married to a Thai citizen and we have a daughter who is a Thai citizen too. I have been holding a marriage visa since 2013 which I renew every year. I dont have a work permit.

I would like to apply for Thai permanent residency as the family

category.

I would like to know if it is possible and the cost to hire a laywer to help me with the process

Thanks

Xavier

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, Xavier, is a French national married to a Thai citizen, seeking advice on applying for Thai permanent residency under the family category. He has held a marriage visa since 2013 but has not worked in Thailand or paid income taxes. Comments suggest that a key requirement for residency involves having worked and paid taxes in Thailand for a minimum of three years, along with a basic fluency in the Thai language. Users recommend seeking information online and express concerns about Xavier's tax situation, while others suggest considering legal assistance for the application process.

I have a marriage visa already, renewing it every year for the past 12 years...

My main issue is the tax thing.

I own property in thailand, pay tax on property does it count too?

You need to have been working here for at least 3 years and paying taxes and be at least fluent in speaking Thai.

Do it yourself.

If your name is on her Birth Certificate wouldn't she be a dual national?
