I have a METV and I have had it a few times before, so I am quite experienced. But recently someone said that one can enter Thailand by land only twice per year, so I became a bit confused. Does this rule apply for METV too? I have already done two visa runs to the border and I wanna do one more.

No, the rule of entering by land borders is only if you use the Visa Exempt Entry (Entry without Visa).
