TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can apply for a retirement visa in Thailand by walking into the immigration office as long as you meet the necessary requirements, including having a Thai bank account with the required funds. It's advisable to have between 14-21 days left on your current visa for consideration of the application. If you don't possess the necessary bank balance, hiring an agent can assist with navigating the requirements, including setting up a bank account.

If you don’t have the required bank balance in a Thai account, I suggest get an agent who can sort everything including bank accounts and Thai license.
