Can my retired parents apply for a retirement visa in Thailand without a state pension?

Hello, everyone, I need some advice or suggestions, please.

My parents are Pakistani Citizens, and I wish to apply for their retirement visa once they reach Thailand.

The issue is that I have been told to apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa and then, once they land in Thailand, convert to a Retirement Visa.

Here is the problem now, when I see the Thai Embassy site here, it says "Retirement (Pensioners aged 50 or above with state pension who wishes to stay in Thailand for no longer than 90 Days)."

However, they do not get state pension. They have their own savings and retired individuals from private sector.

So, is it not possible to do tourist visa and then get an agent to convert to Non O and then retirement visa in Thailand.

Please suggestions would be highly appreciated thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on obtaining a retirement visa for their Pakistani parents, who are ineligible due to lacking a state pension. They were advised to apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa upon arrival in Thailand, then convert to a retirement visa. Comments indicate it's possible to apply for a tourist visa and later convert, highlighting that the necessary funds (800,000 baht) should be available in a Thai bank account. There are suggestions to consult visa agents for assistance.

i changed TR to non o (marriage visa). But your case is similar. Can get retirement visa as well. Process is same. If you will get non o (3month) visa from pakistan, it will be more better than TR visa.

This is all but impossible now with the banking changes, because tourists cannot open a bank account, and showing money in a Thai bank account is a requirement for converting to the non-O visa.

Most embassies do not require a pension. They just require proof of income or proof of the 800,000 baht (or whatever the embassy's equivalent in local currency is) in a bank account.

i converted my TR visa to non o without open a bank account. After getting non o for 3 month, then i opened a bank account for deposit show money. Later, i converted into non o 1 year.

The Over 50 Visa is the 90 day Retirement Visa which will be needed to get bank accounts. When their 800k deposits are seasoned for 2 months they apply for their 12 month Extensions of Stay, not a Visa. No pension is needed at any stage. I assume that the Pakistan Embassy does not provide the income affidavit.
