As it is not possible to apply for an acro if you are under 16, will the embassy except the acro of the primary visa holder? Please, as this is obviously a very confusing issue, and lots of answers will be different.

Please only answer if you have had a dtv3 either rejected or accepted due to this problem! We know the embassy simply copies the generic response, they do not give nuanced replies. Thanks for your help, but only help if you have actually had your visa application processed! Thanks!

Hi I have applied for an ACRO for an under 16 to be safe. It’s confused me too so thought it was safer to pay the £70. Our son is 6 and feels silly ordering one but you can definitely order one for a child.

Also worth noting you might struggle finding many people who have done this, as the rules only changed around 6 weeks ago and most people will only just have been receiving their ACRO docs in order to apply. The guidance needs to be clearer on this but i didn’t think it was worth risking the delay if it was needed

Thanks Ellie, we realized hardly anyone would have actually been through the whole system yet. I mainly just wanted to filter out the armchair experts 🤪. We saw you'd gone for the safest option, which definitely will be fine. I've read that the police still allow you to apply, take your money and just return a "nothing found" response. Which hopefully will get you the visa. We found a few websites that say they will except the acro from the parent, and in order to save money, will try that first. It's ridiculous that they don't just explain this on the embassy website. Time is our biggest problem now, so I hope they do except the acro from us.
