Hello all! I am on a Thailand Elite Visa but it expires in March. I am contemplating a non-o visa but I don't want to leave 800,000 baht in a Thai bank! I would like to do the 65,000 baht a month option, but I actually only get about the equivalent of 60,000 baht as I retired at 55! Is there a way I can use money from savings, IRA or brokerage accounts to make up the difference? I know I cannot send the amounts separately already! Is anyone here doing a work around for that? Thank you for any information!
Answer summary
The user is seeking advice on transitioning from a Thailand Elite Visa to a Non-O visa without leaving 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account, as they plan to use the 65,000 baht monthly income option but only receive 60,000 baht. The community suggests consolidating funds into one international transfer to meet the monthly requirements, underscores the importance of presenting proper documentation to immigration, and discusses various strategies to fulfill the financial criteria for the visa.

You have to be able to show the 12 months, I used to have to get memo from Bangkok Bank listing all international transfers, in Chonburi. Would suggest bite the bullet use a broker this year then start the 65k a month method. That’s how I started 15 years ago.

How much did you spend on that, Elite Visa?

Now you’re worried about tying up 800,000 baht!

I don’t get it.

Put a minimum of 800,000 THB into a Thai bank account in your sole name, and simultaneouslystart to transfer a lump sum of a minimum of 65,000 THB into that bank account, month for month. As soon as you Elite Visa expires. visit a neighbour country and apply for the 90-days Non-O Visa, or make a border bounce, enter visa-exempt, and apply for the 90-days Non-O Visa on Immigration (called "change of visa type".For this you would need arental contract and a bank letter that confirms the 800,000 THB are ALREADY sitting in your Thai bank account. If you don't "trust Thai banks" then I suggest just stay in Fresno and enjoy the good old United States and your money in one of the crooked U.S. banks

65 k per month minimum, international transfer , as long as it's every month as a minimum and is international, that's all that matters .

Difficult first year obviously.

Or use an agent .

I believe you have Thai bank account.

You have to leave Thailand first when the elite visa expired. You come back with visa exemption and change to Non-O retirement visa. But still need to fulfill the requirements.

3 months first(2000baht)+12 months extension (1900baht)

You certainly won't be able to do it next march. You'll need to leave Thailand to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa at a nearby consulate, you can show bank statements for either 3 months income of 65k baht or 800k baht.

For the 12 month extension of stay you need a full 12 months of transfers from overseas of a minimum of 65k baht per month immediately prior to applying for the extension, so even if you start now it's not going to work time wise. Plus some immigration offices may only accept transfers made while you are already on the visa/extension they apply to

How you are suggesting is fine

So you can afford an Elite visa but not the required 800K for a non-O? Strange strange.

It doesn't usually matter if the money comes from two separate sources, so can you consolidate them and send it as one deposit? They need to show as an international transfer. I would transfer the money in the middle of the month to avoid any risk of delays, as it is 12 months 65,000 deposits. Check with your immigration office and also whether they would accept this method for the first extension as your Embassy will not provide the income affidavit.
