Can I use Emirates insurance for my non-immigrant OA visa COE application to Thailand?

Sorry if this question has been asked before but, I'm returning to Thailand @ 2nd November on non imm OA multi entry visa. I plan to stay many months. Looking at Emirates return flights because of free insurance. Have other people using this visa, had this insurance accepted for their COE to be issued ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether Emirate's free insurance is valid for their Certificate of Entry (COE) for Thailand with a non-immigrant OA multi-entry visa. Comments clarify that while the insurance meets COVID-related requirements, it does not cover the required 40,000/400,000 THB medical insurance specifics needed for the OA visa. Additional questions about the visa's effective dates and insurance policy validity are also raised.

It meets the covid insurance requirements, but not the 40k/400k requirement for the OA visa, and you need both boxes to be ticked

Is this OA visa a newly issued visa?

Or what is the effective dates of your OA visa sticker pasted in your passport ?

Or do you have a reentry permit in your passport to enter Thailand ?

What is its expiration date?

What is the ending date of your current insurance policy which is written / noted on your OA visa ?

Where did you get the OA compliant insurance policy?

Good luck Lisa... You are bent on trying... Hope it works for you.

I seriously doubt that it will. But it's your call...

it's multi entry so don't need an entry visa. It expires 18th Dec. But I will land about 3rd of November, previous insurance bought through Arawan Namak, also expires 18th Dec . But that's why I'm asking about Emirates insurance if I buy round trip ticket for 9 months. Or if that's not compliant I will book with another airline and buy another Thai insurance for 9 to 12 months.

the Emirates policy will not meet the requirements for entry into Thailand as you will need the policy to be compliant with the dual insurance requirements of the OA visa.

Suggest you extend your current policy to cover you for another year which means that you will be stamped in for one year from your date of arrival into Thailand on or about November 3rd.

Fly Emirates as the policy they do offer is excellent and benefits are greater than that which you now have.

Problematic for using the Emirates policy is getting the foreign insurance certificate needed to comply with the dual insurance requirements of the OA visa. I doubt that you can obtain it from Emirates /AIG

there is an email for the insurance company. And you email them , and they email back certificate. I know others who have used Emirates free insurance, but unsure whether it will apply for OA visa. Which needs in patient and outpatient health cover. That's why I'm asking if anyone has managed to do this.

I don't know if it meets the minimum health insurance requirements.

According to

/30/nonimmigrantoaox/:

".12 Additional health insurance requirement for Non-Immigrant O-A / O-X (Long Stay)

Effective from 31 October 2019, the applicant must be medically insured for the entire period of stay in Thailand with the following coverage:

– Outpatient benefit with a sum insured of not less than 40,000 THB, and

– Inpatient benefit with a sum insured of not less than 400,000 THB

The applicants must submit the following:

Health insurance policy document issued by a Thai or foreign insurance company, stating that the applicant is medically insured for the period and with coverage as mentioned above:

(a) In case of a foreign insurance company, the applicant must submit the original insurance policy document with 2 copies;

(b) In case of a Thai insurance company, the applicant must submit 2 copies of the insurance policy document or, if available, the original insurance policy document with 2 copies. A list of Thai insurance companies participating in the scheme can be found here:

Foreign Insurance Certificate as stipulated by the Office of Insurance Commission and Health Insurance of Thailand, which must be completed, signed and stamped by the insurance company. The form can be downloaded here: Foreign Insurance Certificate Form"

I suppose if you can get that formed signed by the airline, it should be accepted by the Thai government. I doubt any American company would sign the form because America doesn't understand what the form is asking.

yeah thanks Ben. I had a feeling for OA, Emirates insurance is not suitable. I'm from UK anyway. Not USA .But AIG can be emailed for insurance cert. Not really a problem, I've had a really good quote for 12 months from Thai insurance agent. Half what I paid last year.
