TLDR : Answer Summary
The Emirates free travel insurance is generally accepted for the Certificate of Entry (COE) by many consulates, according to multiple user comments. However, some emphasize the need for comprehensive health insurance that covers specific COVID-19 requirements, including asymptomatic hospitalization. It is crucial to ensure the insurance period aligns with the visa stay requirements and to highlight policy details related to COVID-19 coverage when presenting the insurance to consulates.
I hope you can see from my other comments in this thread that the Emirates free insurance coverage IS accepted for COE by many consulates. I provided proof from posts from people who specifically say they used it in the Thai consulates for the UK, Dubai, Portugal and Hong Kong. There are others as well but I don't have time to look them up. Please note that after buying the ticket, you must email a copy of your e-ticket to

to request your personalized policy document which is what you submit to the consulate as your proof of insurance. The policy covers the exact dates of your roundtrip ticket (up to 1 year) so of course, the policy period must match the requirements for your particular visa's stay. Also, I have written proof from AIG that confirms that the policy DOES cover asymptomatic hospitalization, unlike most insurance policies, which means if you are required to be hospitalized due to Thai regulations if you test positive during quarantine but do not have symptoms, the policy WILL cover your hospital costs unlike most insurers who deny it for not being medically necessary. I posted the proof as comments on another comment in this thread. Also, one tip is to highlight the line near the bottom of the policy that specifically mentions that it covers for COVID. Some consulates don't see that and initially reject the policy but once it is pointed out them, I have not heard cases of it being denied.
Here's the actual free policy issued to me by Emirates, which is actually issued by AIG and looks just like the standard AIG Travelguard policy that someone can buy themselves. This is what is submitted to get COE. The free policy covers the exact dates of your roundtrip ticket which in my case was 90 days, but it can cover a maximum period of up to 1 year according to Emirates/AIG. The consulate has no way to tell this isn't a policy you bought from AIG so they have no reason to deny your COE due to this.
is 100 percent correct here. I'm currently in ALQ and used the Emirates/AIG free policy to fly EK384 DXB-BKK on 15-Jun. COE approved with no issue whatsoever. Accepted at EK checkin in DXB and Thai Immigration at BKK.
Wow, Garrett, I am really surprised by such an aggressive response. Instead of asking me for proof, you outright declared me a liar. Considering how many years I've been a somewhat active member of multiple groups about Thailand that you are in, I'm surprised you would react to my post this way and not at least show the courtesy to ask me for more information. I'll take some time to look for the proof for you, but I must call you out for reacting this way.

The Emirates insurance has been used by many for obtaining a COE, I do not know why Garrett seems to think it cannot be used?
