Can I get some sort of simple visa from jomtien immigration by turning up and filling out a form so I can open bank account, I have 10 days left of holiday? Thanks
Summary so far
The consensus among community members is that tourists cannot obtain a bank account in Thailand unless they have a long-term visa. To apply for a non-immigrant visa, which may allow account opening, it must be obtained from a Thai embassy or consulate outside of Thailand. Many comments underscore that tourists, like the poster currently on holiday, cannot simply walk into immigration and request a visa for this purpose. Some suggest using an agent to assist with the process, but it remains unlikely that a bank account can be opened without the proper visa status.

Aww well
We can hope this will happen next time
Is it a,requirement of these boats people to be poor liars, lacking in any form.of intellegence ?
Why dont they tell us all about all this aid they took on the boats?
Maybe next time take millions of condoms. Stop those terrorists and arabs from breeding ?
Just a pity the fathers of these boats people didn't wear one
12 years ago I arrived in Thailand on a tourist visa, an agent opened a bank account with Kasikorn Bank got me a Non O and a further 12 months extension. Not sure it’s possible to do now though.
Miyamoto Musashi I believe it’s still possible to do now using an agent that’s why I posted my comment. Check out the facts before posting abusive comments.
If you already have a long term visa which will allow you to open a bank account what you will need from Immigration is a Residence Certificate specifically to open a bank account. Take your TM30 receipts but hurry up as Immigration is closed on the 1st and 3rd (and the weekend of course).
No. Tourists cannot get a bank account. In order to apply for a non-immigrant visa inside of Thailand, you need to already have a Thai bank account with the required funds.
You must get the non-immigrant visa from a Thai embassy or consulate outside of Thailand first.
Ant W Tailor Plenty of visas you can open a bank account on, no need to restrict it to one based on retirement but then you're obviously a newbie and wouldn't know that 😉
Ant W Tailor I rest my case. Non Imm O based on Marriage, Thai dependant relatives, Non Imm OA and B, LTR, Elite and many more. All visas you can open a Thai bank account on. Like I said obviously you're a newbie.
