You can only have one valid visa at a time. But why would you still need your DTV if you have a non-o? (Note that you need to be at least 50yo or married to a Thai, plus a few other applicable cases.)
It sounds like I should hang onto the DTV for now. Thank you for the information
My girlfriend doesn’t qualify for a DTV. I’m wondering if we shouldn’t get her the non-o? Then we could get her a bank account. What other option do I have for her? We plan to live in Thailand for a number of years if not forever
EmeraldShark646 yes I highly recommend hanging onto your DTV, I've had one for over 2 years now and it's great for coming and going, no issues at all. If you are on workation and not soft power, try Krungthai bank for an account, I had no problems opening a bank account there on a DTV but Facebook opinion says you can't do that anymore but it's worth a try, don't give up at the first branch. Also it's very advantageous if you have Thai wife or GF with you, only took me 2 visits, an hour each to sort account, debit card, and phone app/banking, good luck 👍
You can't convert to a Non-O visa inside Thailand as you don't have a bank account so you will have to apply from outside Thailand. Before you can apply for another visa you must first cancel your current visa, only the Thai consulate that issued the visa can do that so you would need to contact them.
Marty Pollard Immigration cannot invalidate the DTV. Only the embassy that issued it, can revoke or invalidate the visa they issued. He needs to talk to the Thai embassy for an invalidation of the DTV before he can apply for another visa type
Marty Pollard how many times do I need to post this? WHY do you not listen to me? Visiting Immigration is USELESS in his case. . . . . . Immigration cannot invalidate his DTV. . . . . . . . .This must be done by the Thai Embassy that issued it
